As many parents and K-12 teachers have already learned, there is a new and exciting way to reach today's students: podcasting.

And what better way to share the latest information about fitness and nutrition than through the Healthy Reader, a fun and fast-paced weekly audio podcast focusing on the importance of healthy lifestyles and exercise.

The host of each podcast will be between the ages of 8-16. Each episode of the Healthy Reader will usually include additional children as guests, and the content developed for each podcast will reflect the California State Standards in health that are mandated for third grade education.

Every week students will be able to download a new Healthy Reader podcast and then listen to it as part of the heath and wellness curriculum activities. Students also will be encouraged to visit the companion website to learn more about nutrition and exercise.

Beginning in late March, 2006, check back to this website for each week's podcast, as well as enhancements to the weekly audio content, including interactive activities such as games, blogs, links to informative web sites, and a weekly clue to an on-going detective quest.
