You may be eligible for a Rewarding Educational Challenge and Commitment to Community Service if: You are a working education professional

  • Classroom teacher or are a professional
  • Enrolled in or interested in enrolling in National University's Teacher Education Program, Specialized Programs
  • NUCRI Cohort or BAIS Waiver Program and want to apply for a $4,725 AmeriCorps Service Learning Education Award.

For AmeriCorps Eligibility:

  • You must have a 2.5 GPA
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Resident
  • Demonstrate a Commitment to Diversity
  • Serve low-income Children and Families
  • Be willing to engage in community based training and research

Developmental Activities include:

  • 1700 service hours
  • Pre-Service Orientation
  • Monthly Seminars, Mentorship
  • Local & National Education Network Participation
  • National University Qualifications Include:
  • National University student, or prospective student (show proof of enrollment)
  • Completion of or enrollment in a CLD course with a Service Learning component or BAIS Waiver Program
  • NUCRI/EMS Charter School Teacher
  • CSULA/National University Fellow
  • Interested in Service Learning as a teaching modality
  • Engage in community research and work in a Family Resource Center project
  • Receive special educational software training.
